Presently, the city of Beaumont has no confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to Mayor Becky Ames.

“City events are continuing at this time. We are encouraging the community to take extra heath precautions as recommended by the CDC,” she said in a news release Friday afternoon. “Our elderly population, along with people living with long-term health issues should use caution when going out in large crowds. The larger the crowd, the greater the risk of transmitting any infectious disease, including COVID-19.

“Please understand that these updates are subject to change. Once we receive new info, we will communicate with the public as soon as possible through appropriate channels, including press releases and social media updates.

”We are working closely with the state to document economic injury or loss, in hopes of getting an economic injury SBA declaration in support of COVID-19. Businesses and private non-profits can assist in this regard by going to the emergency management section of our city website and submitting an economic injury worksheet.”
