Beaumont Community Players (BCP) will be back producing shows at the Betty Greenberg Center for Performing Arts this fall after an 18-month hiatus due to COVID-19.

After more than a year of virtual productions and online classes BCP will launch a new season of live in-person theatre beginning in September of 2021. A full season of seven productions will be offered in the company’s two spaces with a line-up of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning shows.  Executive Director John Manfredi spoke about the re-opening. “We are so thrilled to be able to get our audiences back in the building. We’re going to operate at about 70% capacity through the end of this year creating socially distanced seating but if the numbers continue their positive trend we’ll be back to 100% capacity by the first of the year”

Masks are currently required in the common areas of the theatre but patrons can unmask in the seating areas and vaccinated patrons need not wear a mask. Manfredi continued “After not selling a single ticket for more than a year our company is now back at work and very excited about this strong line-up of plays and musicals.”

The company will start the season with the musical comedy I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change and close 2021 with the award-winning Other Desert Cities and the SE Texas premiere of the hilarious A Tuna Christmas. Following in 2022 will be Pride and PrejudiceThe Putnam County Spelling Bee and Enchanted April. The season will end in May with the spectacular Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Subscriptions go on sale on June 22 and single tickets will be available starting in September.

KIDmunity, BCP’s signature program for students with shows in June and July,  the company’s first-ever summer fundraiser White Linen Night on August 7th and the 2nd Annual SE Texas New Play Festival August 27 & 28 will keep the organization busy all summer until the new season begins.
