The Beaumont Public Health Department confirmed 195 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths in its daily update Aug. 16. Jefferson County has confirmed 866 new cases over the past week, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

That number includes 82 Beaumont residents, as well as one from China, one from Nome, three from Hamshire, four from Fannett and five from Cheek. To date, Beaumont has confirmed 11,536 positive COVID-19 cases and fully vaccinated 86,141 residents over the age of 12, which amounts to approximately 41%.
