Less than a day after announcing the first death of a Beaumont resident relate to coronavirus complications, the Beaumont Public Health Department released a statement that another man has died.

"It is with great sadness that the City of Beaumont Public Health Department (BPHD) is reporting the second COVID-19 related death of a resident in Beaumont," reads Public Health Department information.

"The gentleman was between the ages of 80-90 years old and had underlying health issues. He had no known travel history.

"This is an important reminder that COVID-19 is a very serious disease. While 80% of individuals who contract COVID-19 will have mild to moderate symptoms and fully recover, they may spread the disease to people who are at high risk. The elderly and people with underlying health conditions or weakened immune systems are at a much higher risk for developing serious complications from COVID-19. We strongly advise at-risk individuals to minimize contact with others who are ill and practice social distancing."
