April 1, officers from BPD arrested a man suspected of stabbing and killing a 26-year-old Beaumont man just a day prior.

Tuesday, March 31, at 9:44 p.m., Beaumont police responded to the 9300 block of Riggs Street in reference to a victim of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Beaumont EMS were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. Through the investigation, it was learned there was an altercation between a suspect and the victim, at which time the suspect began stabbing the victim. He then fled the scene on a bicycle prior to police arrival.

The victim was identified as Grady Aaron Rothkamm, 26, from Beaumont.

Detectives obtained suspect information and a murder warrant was issued for Ronald Laverne Crawford, 53, of Beaumont and arrested him the next day. Crawford currently sits in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on a $1 million bond.
