A 26-year-old Beaumont woman was arrested last December after allegedly interfering with an officer’s public duties by kneeing him between the legs, according to an indictment.

A BPD sergeant was working an extra job at 5 Under Golf Center, where he was attempting to tail 36-year-old Robert Filion. In an effort to prevent the officer from following Filion, according to the indictment, Amanda Nowell placed herself between the two men.

The officer placed a hand on Nowell’s shoulder to move her aside; that’s when she used her left knee to strike him “in the right side groin area right underneath the belt.” Nowell was then placed under arrest for interfering with public duties and assaulting a public officer to boot.
