A report from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) indicates that officers arrested a 40-year-old man from Buna after he was accused of stealing his own truck from mechanics he hadn’t yet paid for repair work.

On Friday, Sept. 2, Weaver Motors Inc. of Kirbyville informed JCSO that a vehicle was missing from their property. Mechanics had recently serviced the missing vehicle, but the owner had yet to pay for the work. After further investigation, deputies found that a 40-year-old white man from Buna, and the driver of the vehicle, had taken it from the dealership without remitting payment.

“Today, Sept. 6, the Texas Department of Public Safety – Southeast Texas Region conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and the 40-year-old male was subsequently arrested for theft of service (less than $30,000), a state jail felony,” deputies reported. “Further information will be released after formal arraignment.”
