Canal upgrade abandons streets

The city of Nederland is hosting a public hearing on Monday, July 25, at 4:30 p.m. to allow interested persons to provide comments and ask questions regarding the Lower Neches Valley Authority’s request to abandon a section of Detroit Avenue and North First Street near FM 366 for the agency’s canal improvement project.

Per the LNVA’s request, Nederland City Manager Chris Duque reports, Detroit Avenue would be closed before the LNVA canal. Also per the LNVA’s request, North First Street would be closed north of the Chicago Avenue intersection.
