CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System continues to evaluate our policies and procedures as we operate in what we hope is the final phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we have gradually allowed more access to our hospitals and other facilities, we are preparing to take another small step toward our new normal. Effective Monday, May 17, 2021, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas will move from human screeners to signage-based screening, allowing visitors to check their own symptoms.

While the screening procedure will change, other COVID-19 precautions will remain. Foremost, visitors will still be required to wear masks in all CHRISTUS Southeast Texas facilities. Additionally, only one visitor per patient room at a time. No additional visitors in waiting areas and no visitors under the age of 18 are allowed. Visiting hours at St. Elizabeth hospital are from 8:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m, on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays.  At Jasper Memorial hospital our visitation hours are 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. each day.

“We are encouraged to see the continued decrease of spread of COVID-19 in our community as more people are getting vaccinated,” said Ryan Miller, Chief Operating Officer, CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System. “With fewer COVID-19 hospitalizations, we are comfortable shifting some of the resources from visitor screening to other important functions that continue to keep patients, Associates and visitors safe within our facilities.”

CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System will continue to carefully consider next steps as we maintain necessary safety precautions.
