Hardin County Judge Wayne McDaniel announced that Commissioners Court will conduct a public hearing/workshop at the start of the regular meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the Court Room.

Officials are set to discuss the Community Development Block Grant-Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) funding to the county of $23.894 million, which has been allocated for drainage improvements with a regional impact to mitigate future flooding.

McDaniel noted the purpose of this public hearing is to obtain input from the public and from stakeholders concerning the use of this funding.

“I anticipate this will be a topic at nearly every regular meeting of Commissioners Court over the next three months, with a need for a few special meetings in between,” McDaniel stated.

Commissioners Court meets at 10 a.m. every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

“It is the desire of Hardin County Commissioners Court to get the ‘best bang for our buck’ with this unprecedented funding, mitigating future flooding as much as possible which must begin along the south end of the County, most likely in the Pine Island Bayou Watershed,” McDaniel added.

Citizens unable to attend the meeting may submit their views and proposals via email to: CDBG-MITComment@Co.Hardin.TX.US. The meeting will be livestreamed on the county judge’s Facebook page.
