Drought conditions in Hardin County continue to improve somewhat throughout much of the county, according to County Judge Wayne McDaniel.

He noted the Keetch-Bryan Drought Index (KBDI) average is down to 531 on Aug. 7. It was 581 several days ago.

On July 20, the judge issued a Declaration of Disaster due to severe drought conditions in Hardin County, which exist and are expected to continue for the foreseeable future, and Order Restricting Outdoor Burning effective immediately.

“While the burn ban continues, Mr. (Gregg) Bostwick says we can expect a better than normal coverage of showers and thunderstorms this week,” said McDaniel. “I hope the areas that need a few more inches of rain will get it over the next few days, and the areas that are improving will continue to receive more needed rain, as well.”
