The Examiner endorses Chelsie Ramos as Family Court Judge for the Jefferson County 317th Civil District Court. After a distinguished 20-year career in family law, serving as both judge and attorney in family court, Ramos, born and raised in Southeast Texas, has returned home and, when elected, will become the first woman to preside over the 317th Civil District Court.

Ramos is running for a family court position held for the past 24 years by the retiring Honorable Judge Larry Thorne.

As for what qualifies Ramos to be a Family Court Judge in Jefferson County, Ramos served as Family Court Judge in Harris County for four years, presiding over a large load in one of the largest counties in the United States.

On Day One, we believe Ramos has the knowledge, ability and desire to run the courtroom efficiently and effectively, and to move lagging cases forward.

Chelsie has certifications from the Texas Center for the Judiciary for Judicial Ethics and Domestic Violence training, as well as specialized knowledge in identifying and responding to these issues that, unfortunately, are so often prevalent in family court.

She has handled complex family law, served as a mediator, arbitrator, was appointed as an attorney ad litem to represent indigent parents in CPS cases, and was appointed as an amicus attorney to represent children in their best interest in high-conflict custody cases.

With Chelsie Ramos’ life experiences, and having served as a former Family Court Judge, we believe she will ensure that justice is administered in the courtroom in a fair, compassionate and impartial manner.

The Examiner asks you to consider Chelsie Ramos as your choice to be the next Family Court Judge serving Jefferson County.
