Kick-Off the Mardi Gras season at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) FREE Family Arts Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Art activities will correlate with AMSET’s current exhibition, Earlie Hudnall, Jr.: “Homeward,” on view through March 30 in the main galleries. This Family Arts Day will be held indoors. Children and their families will create unique artwork with activities including drawing with light, camera and film, clay sculptures, Mardi Gras masks, Valentine’s Day cookies, President’s Day beards, and temporary tattoos to help establish an understanding of, and connection to, the many techniques used to create the artwork in AMSET’s main galleries and permanent collection.

Complimentary punch will be provided. A concession stand serving ballpark-style food will also be available. There will be two live Black History Month dance performances at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Throughout the day, AMSET will raffle baskets of art supplies. The public is also encouraged to bring plastic bottles and aluminum cans to recycle at the museum.

Admission to this event is free and open to the public and all materials are provided. For more information, visit amset.org or call (409) 832-3432.
