Girlfriend gashed after couple’s quarrel

Just before 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) officers responded to the 8500 block of Davis Avenue in reference to a woman who had been stabbed multiple times.

According to a news release penned by PAPD Sgt. George Clark, officers located a black woman suffering from stab wounds to multiple parts of her body. Officers learned that the victim’s boyfriend stabbed her after an argument escalated. The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries that were reportedly not life-threatening. 

The suspect was still on scene and taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the Jefferson County inmate roster, Ricky Wayne Beckett, 62, was arrested Sept. 5 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond is set at $100,000.
