A Leadership Southeast Texas (LSET) team from the LSET class of 2021 raised more than $6,500 to build a storage building for Birthright of Orange, a nonprofit that aids women facing unplanned pregnancy. Pecan Acres Baptist Church of Vidor donated $6,000 to the cause and Wellspring Credit Union donated $500, allowing the group to hire On-Site Sheds of Vidor to construct the building. A check presentation of $1,000 also took place at the Oct. 12 unveiling event.

The Orange County LSET team included Laura Rawls Roberts, VP of Operations at Wellspring Credit Union in Bridge City; Dr. Wendy Mays Elmore, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Lamar State College Orange; Dr. Travis Maines, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources at Vidor ISD; and Kevin King, Workforce Analyst II at Workforce Solutions Southeast Texas.

“That just totally shocked me that someone was willing to give us a building that we could enlarge the amount of items we have for these babies,” said Clara Fults, Assistant Director at Birthright of Orange. “No one has ever offered anything that great to us.”
