Two Beaumont police officers survived an alleged murder attempt after a teenager’s gun malfunctioned at an apartment complex on Dowlen Road July 3.

At about 6 p.m. on Sunday, Beaumont Police Department (BPD) officers responded to Glen Oaks Apartments, across from Jason’s Deli, in reference to a civil standby. According to a BPD report, as officers attempted to make contact with the complainant, “two suspects opened the door armed with handguns, pointed the guns directly at the officers. (One) of the suspects attempted to shoot the officers, however, the gun malfunctioned. Two suspects were detained from inside the apartment and two other suspects fled on foot."

Through investigation, detectives identified and apprehended Jalon Nixon, a 17-year-old Beaumont resident in connection with the attempted capital murder of two BPD officers. Officers transported Nixon to the Jefferson County Jail.

BPD detectives obtained two warrants for aggravated assault on a public servant for Reginald Guillory, a 19-year-old Beaumont resident, in connection with the attempted capital murder of the two BPD officers. BPD says Guillory turned himself in on July 5 at about 5 p.m.
