Severe weather is expected to move into our region between 2-5 this afternoon into the evening. Jefferson County is under a high wind advisory with winds forecast to be in excess of 40-45 mph and wind gusts up to 55-60 MPH. There is an increase risk for hail and severe lightning and thunderstorms in the early afternoon. This is a fast moving system and is expected to be out of the area by 9:00PM.
Many of the area schools (public and private) and childcare centers are releasing early ahead of the storm which may impact staffing.Please use caution if traveling during times of heavy rains and thunderstorms.
