Man arrested for assaulting wife

A Hardin County man was arrested and charged with assault after he allegedly attacked his wife.

According to Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford, Steven Jordan, 32, of Village Mills, was arrested June 24. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of endangering a child and aggravated assault with deadly weapon from Collins County.

Weatherford said Tyler County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Tyler County Hospital in reference to a physical assault of a female. She told deputies her husband punched her multiple times in the face and head area. The victim also said the suspect placed a loaded gun to her head and cocked it.

The couple and their children were camping at the Magnolia Ridge campsite at the time of the accident. The victim was able to get away with her young children and was later taken to the hospital.

Justice of the Peace Jim Moore set bond at $70,000.
