The Beaumont man entered 13 guilty pleas relating to sexually exploiting minors who were left in his care.

Facing 13 charges related to sexually assaulting and invasively recording three minors who were left in his care after their mother was deported, a 47-year-old Beaumont man heard July 26 that he could be sentenced to 150 years in prison.
The defendant, Carlos Enrique Yalibat, entered 13 guilty pleas to various charges including rape and child pornography possession. According to more than a dozen pages of probable cause affidavits, Yalibat allegedly raped, photographed and video-taped three girls no older than 12 who were left under his supervision after their mother, the suspect’s ex-girlfriend, was deported from the country around eight years ago, according to the charging documents penned Dec. 17, 2019 by Detective Jeff Curl of the Beaumont Police Department.
The eldest of the three female victims was 12 when her mother was deported and the abuse began in 2012 or 2013, the affidavit reads. The eldest victim was interviewed multiple times after coming forward in 2019 with the allegations detailed in Detective Curl’s report. The victim told investigators she has known Yalibat “for as long as she has had memories.”
The victim advised that Yalibat had several peep holes throughout his home that he’d use to take photographs and video footage of the three minors. According to the probable cause affidavit, Yalibat had collected more than 592 images and 157 videos, depicting images of him raping and sexually-exploiting the young girls.
Upon searching Yalibat’s home Aug. 7, 2019, investigators indeed found peep holes in numerous locations throughout Yalibat’s residence, along with computers containing videos and images of the illicit acts he committed against the minors.
Yalibat was booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility Feb. 12 on 10 counts of child pornography possession and two counts of sexual performance of a child, with a his bond totalling $370,000. He was released some time later and made court appearances alongside his attorney Jared Gilmore.
Now facing 13 charges for sexually exploiting children – one for indecency with a child, two for sexual performance of a child and 11 for possession of child pornography – Yalibat could be sentenced to 150 years in prison, according to Judge Raquel West of the 252nd Distrst Court.
West reset Yalibat’s case July 26 in order to scribe a pre-sentence report before setting his bond to $100,000 in each of his 13 cases.
