Lou Mitchell
Lou E. Mitchell, a 51year-old Beaumont man, was indicted by a Jefferson County grand jury Jan. 19 for felony theft – the sixth time he’s been handed down such a charge.
Mitchell has been convicted for theft on five other occasions: April 19, 2012, in Jefferson County; June 11, 2013, in Harris County; June 24, 2015, in Hardin County; Aug. 24, 2015, in Jefferson County; and June 21, 2016, in Harris County.
According to a report by Officer J. Alpers, the Beaumont Police Department was called to Academy Sports and Outdoors in reference to a theft on Nov. 6, 2021, the suspect allegedly leaving the store with baseball hats he tried to pass off as returns although he entered the business empty-handed, according to staff.
Following the theft that amounted to a value under $55, according to Academy pricing, Mitchell was ultimately arrested and is still in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of bond totaling $60,750.
