The McFaddin-Ward House invites the community to Movies at the McFaddin on Friday, Nov. 11, for Disney’s 2017 Pixar film, “Coco.” Gates open at 5 p.m. for the 6 p.m. showing.

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector, and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history.

The film was praised for its animation, voice acting, music, visuals, emotional story, and respect for Mexican culture and grossed more than $807 million at the box office. It received two Academy Awards and was named Best Animated Film in 2017 by the national Board of Review.

The film grossed over $807 million worldwide, becoming the 16th highest-grossing animated film ever at the time of its release. Coco received two awards at the 90th Academy Awards, and numerous other accolades. The film was chosen by the National Board of Review as the Best Animated Film of 2017.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, food, and drinks as they gather on the historic home’s lawn at 1906 McFaddin Ave. in Beaumont. The evening will also include festive activities. Guests are invited to roast smores, complete crafts, and learn about the tradition of Día de los Muertos.
