Nearly half a million Texans file for unemployment in two weeks

Approximately 6 million Americans have filed for first-time unemployment insurance over the last two weeks, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Labor, including nearly half a million Texans.

The DOL’s weekly report reveals more than 144,000 Texans filed initial unemployment insurance claims during the week ending March 21. A further 275,000 residents filed the next week.
