Just before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, Port Arthur police officers arrested a 28-year-old man with more than 30 grams of methamphetamine after a traffic stop in the 4500 block of Twin City Blvd, according to a news release.

After conducting a traffic stop for an unreported reason, officers received consent from the suspect, identified as Dustin Smith, to search the vehicle. According to the release, officers located 38.35 grams of methamphetamine, which constitutes a second-degree felony and could earn Smith two to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Smith was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance and transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
