In a press announcement from Washington, D.C. on Oct. 31, U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14, of Southeast Texas) announced that the Port of Beaumont would receive a $26.4 million grant through the Port Infrastructure Development Program administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation. This $26.4 million grant was provided to strengthen a 400-foot section of dock area to support heavy loads and the design and installation of a 26.14-acre container marshalling yard and hard-surfaced laydown area.

“The Port of Beaumont is the largest Department of Defense-designated strategic military seaport in the nation and serves the largest energy production complex in the nation,” Weber stated in the announcement. “Investments in the port’s infrastructure are critical to our community and the nation. This is well-deserved by the Port of Beaumont.”
