Southeast Texas’ SMORE for Women is hosting an athletic shoe drive fundraiser to raise money for single mothers attending college, and is asking for the community’s support in the form of sneakers.
SMORE will earn funds based on the total quantity of gently worn, used and new sneakers collected through GotSneakers, a social enterprise, that issues funds in exchange for the collected sneakers.
“We are excited about our sneaker drive fundraiser,” said Gail Cawley Showalter, Founder & President of SMORE for Women. “We know that most people have extra sneakers in their closets they would like to donate rather than throw away. By doing so, we raise money for single moms and help the environment. It’s a win – win for everyone!”
Drop off gently worn sneakers at Remax in Beaumont, 8245 Gladys Ave., or 152 Grand Chase in Nederland. Email singlemoms@smoreforwomen.org for home or office pick-up.
