Fr. Shane Baxter and members of the St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont distributed funds from their annual St. Joseph’s Altar fundraiser, totaling $61,000, to several charitable organizations that help provide food, meals and assistance to Southeast Texans in need.

Proceeds of $24,000 were given to Catholic Charities of Southeast Texas for the Hospitality Center in Port Arthur and Market to HOPE (Help Other People Eat) in Beaumont; $15,000 to Some Other Place; $12,000 to the Southeast Texas Food Bank; $9,000 to St. Katharine Drexel Humanitarians; and $1,000 to St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica’s Youth Mission.

The 21st annual St. Joseph’s Day Altar is scheduled for Friday, March 19. Patrons can enjoy Courville’s fried fish, pasta Milanese, artichoke, green bean casserole, plus fig cookies that are lovingly crafted by the St. Joseph’s Day committee, and more at the historic basilica located at 700 Jefferson St. in downtown Beaumont.
