Following a bloody assault in a boys restroom at Beaumont ISD’s West Brook High School, the 16-year-old alleged assailant has been certified as an adult to stand trial for the violent felony offense. Viral video showing a high school student, beaten and bloody with a foot stomped repeatedly to his upper body and face, stoked community input, as well as student outcries for enhanced campus security, when footage was posted to social media accounts soon after the new school year started.

In a probable cause affidavit for 16-year-old Jordon Savoy’s arrest, West Brook campus police was allegedly notified of the assault, which happened on an unspecified date prior to Sept. 7, on Wednesday, Sept. 7, by campus administration.

According to the affidavit, the victim reported that Savoy opened the stall of the bathroom and demanded that the victim hand over his cell phone and other valuables. Having nothing give in barter to leave the bathroom, the victim said Savoy went for blood. Video obtained by police, the affidavit records, shows the victim in the fetal position on the floor of the bathroom, “while Savoy continuously delivered closed hand strikes and kicks to the victim.” A crowd of boys circling can be heard egging on the assault in the video, which can be viewed at www.theexaminer.com. “Savoy left the victim on the floor without seeking any medical attention,” the affidavit continues.
