Teacher surrenders, in jail for improper relationship with student

A Kountze ISD teacher has been booked in the Hardin County jail on two counts on improper relationship with a student, according to the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) website.
Theresa Michelle Pinckney, 41, of Lumberton, turned herself into HCSO about 3 p.m. Oct. 13, according to Sheriff Mark Davis. Her bond was set at $150,000 for each count.
According to the HCSO website, the date of the offense was July 27.
As of Oct. 14, Pinckney’s information has been removed from the facility list at Kountze Middle School’s web page.
In a Facebook post by Lumberton ISD, Pinckney was selected as an employee of the month in February 2019 at Lumberton Middle School. According to GovSalaries.com, Pinckney was employed in Lumberton ISD from the 2018-19 to 2020-21 school year.
Pinckney is a graduate of Hardin-Jefferson High School in Sour Lake, according to her Facebook page.
DPS reported that the Texas Rangers are conducting an on-going investigation into this matter and are refering any questions regarding this case to the Hardin County District Attorney’s Office.
District Attorney Rebecca Walton said her office hasn’t received paperwork on the indictment as of 10:30 a.m. Oct. 14.
