The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has been busy with mostly seal coating projects on several highways in Hardin County.

“Every year there is quite a significant list for our district,” according to Sarah Dupre, the Beaumont District Public Information Officer.

According to the TxDOT project map, construction projects underway or scheduled to begin soon will cost more than $19 million, with completion dates set between July 24 and Aug. 20. The projects in the eastern half of Hardin County include a portion of U.S. Business 96 south of Silsbee and a portion of U.S. 96 in Lumberton, nine miles on FM 92 from FM 418 is Silsbee to the Hardin-Tyler County line, FM 421 from U.S. 96 in Lumberton to State Highway 326, and FM 418 from U.S. 96 in Kountze to FM 92 in Silsbee. In the western part of Hardin County, projects include FM 1003, FM 770 and State Highway 105 west of Saratoga and in the northwestern part of the county on FM 787 from FM 1293 to the Hardin-Liberty County line, and FM 2798 from FM 787 to the county line.

Dupre noted that, when crews complete the seal coating projects, TxDOT will re-stripe the highways.

“They usually come back a week after they finish to stripe,” she added.
