Beaumont police were at Rogers Park April 23 after vandals destroyed tents and campaign signs — only targeting black candidates running for municipal offices.

City Councilwoman Robin Mouton’s campaign tent was found with broken legs, and several of her signs were removed from the ground. Fellow mayoral candidate Lashon Proctor also had signs strewn in disarray. Vandals also unearthed several signs of City Council hopeful Miles Hayes.

BPD is reviewing surveillance footage from the adjacent Marshall Middle School to gather evidence.
