West Orange man charged for murderous rhetoric

Calling his former probation officer and offering threats to kill in December 2022 earned a 21-year-old West Orange man a third-degree felony retaliation charge.

At about 3:10 p.m. on Dec. 7, 2022, Douglas Ekoamiel O’Connor allegedly called his former Jefferson County probation officer, threatening to kill them. A Jefferson County grand jury charged O’Connor Jan. 11.

“O’Connor told the victim he was corrupt and had him put in jail for two months, so he was going to kill him,” penned by Detective Jason Torres in the charging document. “O’Connor told the victim numerous times he was going to kill him. The victim stated O’Connor acknowledged to him that he was Douglas O’Connor. 

According to the probable cause affidavit, O’Connor intentionally and knowingly threatened to kill his former probation officer, who is a public servant. As of press time, O’Connor did not appear on the Jefferson County inmate roster.
