An upper level trough over east Texas and an area of disturbed weather over western gulf will aid in pumping copious amounts of moisture into Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, per the National Weather Service in Lake Charles.

The National Hurricane Center is watching a disorganized area of cloudiness and thunderstorms over the western Gulf of Mexico, associated with a surface trough of low pressure. Conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for some development during the next day or so before the disturbance moves inland over the northwestern Gulf coast late Friday or Friday night.

It has a low (20 percent) chance of formation during the next 48 hours and five days. Regardless of development, the system could produce heavy rainfall over portions of southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana on Friday and through the weekend.
