Investigation into a rash of burglaries in south Hardin County help lead the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office into arresting a 22-year-old woman for child sex abuse.

Elania Elizabeth Myers, of Lumberton, was arrested Nov. 28 and was charged with continuous sexual abuse of child who is younger than age 17, a first-degree felony. Her bond was set at $50,000 by Pct. 5 Justice of the Peace Melissa Minton and she remained in the Hardin County Jail as of press time.

Sheriff Mark Davis said investigators were working on several car and house burglaries in an area south of Lumberton in late June when they came across information about a relationship between the woman and an underage boy.

He said they took the information and investigated the allegations. They discovered there was enough evidence to support a warrant and the case was filed.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, on June 29, Myers admitted having sex with the boy at her residence. On or about Sept. 2, during an interview, the boy stated Myers travelled outside Lumberton, where he had been living with his mother. He said Myers retrieved him and brought him back to her house in Lumberton, where they had sex.

Davis said it took several months to conduct interviews, evidence recovery and meet with prosecutors.

According to Myers’ Facebook page, she attended Lumberton ISD and Silsbee ISD schools and resides in Lumberton.
