Rainy weather presented a challenge for drivers Tuesday, Dec. 20. The Beaumont police reported there were over a dozen accidents throughout the day, the majority of which were minor.

One accident involving a motorcycle sent the operator to the hospital, according to police. The driver of the motorcycle was traveling on Eastex near Lucas when he lost control, skid a short distance and ran into the back of a vehicle over the Lucas Drive overpass on Eastex.

For the 21st year in a row, thousands gathered in celebration of HEB’s Feast of Sharing, which took place at Ford Park on Friday, Dec. 9, and invited the entire region to come together for fellowship and food.

The Beaumont Police Department released a statement today at 2:21 p.m. with information regarding the city's latest homicide victim, Robbie Rae Allen.

The death of Allen, a 72-year-old white female, is officially a homicide.

Allen's family is making service arrangements at Turning Point Church, 3600 N. Main in Vidor, and asked that members of the media allow them this time to grieve privately and handle necessary arrangements.

Sending 88 Beaumont Independent School District employees to New Orleans for a meeting of the National Alliance of Black School Educators cost taxpayers more than $100,000, according to records obtained by The Examiner Newspaper.

But that does not include any sponsorships or fees paid by BISD that have not yet been released by the school district in response to a Texas Public Information Act request.
