Students in Julie Pelt’s seventh grade honors reading class at Mauriceville Middle School are developing their reading skills by becoming writers. After reading the novel “The Westing Game” earlier this year, the class discussed the story and began learning how to adapt literature into a play. Students were assigned a chapter of the book that they had to turn into a scene of a play.

Attorney General Ken Paxton announced today that Brothers Market & Meat Mart in Houston has been closed down for violating the terms of a temporary injunction. Port Arthur police were dispatched to Villa Main Apartment complex on Dec. 8 at 10:55 p.m due to reported gunfire.

Officers discovered a man and woman had a physical altercation with other people in the apartment parking lot. During the incident, a man pointed a handgun at the 911 caller and shot his car multiple times as he was trying to leave the scene, causing him to hit several other cars in the lot. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer's arrival.
