Lamar University students, faculty and staff will celebrate a world of diversity in the LU International Cultural Festival: A Global Experience from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2014, in the Montagne Center.

Hosted by the Office of International Student Services and International Student Council in collaboration with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Lamar’s Small Business and Development Center, the event focuses on celebrating the diversity and cultures of International Students at Lamar.

Giant panda Xiao Liwu explores his snow covered habitat during Panda Snow Day on Nov. 14, 2015, at the San Diego Zoo. The snow was part of an important enrichment surprise for the pandas. Enrichment is significant, as it keeps the animals stimulated and active, allowing them to show their natural behaviors.

When Joseph Lewis showed up at the New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he had been a trustee for nearly a decade to find the locks changed and police waiting to escort him from the premises, he knew he was in for a battle.

Police have arrested a suspect in the Nov. 10 attempted robbery of Third Coast Bank on Dowlen Road in Beaumont. Beaumont resident James Richard Newton, 46, was taken into custody Nov. 12 at the Best Western Casino in Vinton, Louisiana after deputies located his vehicle in the parking lot of the casino.

Police in Orange arrested two suspects and confiscated a variety of controlled substances along with two handguns during a search warrant at a residence in the 400 block of Crepe Myrtle Drive in Orange on Nov. 11, OPD reports.
