A 25-year-old Beaumont man was indicted for the 2013 murder of 22-year-old Nicholas Rosen of Bridge City, who was shot and killed in what police at the time called a drug deal gone bad. Derek Robinson, previously arrested for the murder in May 2013 but later released, was criminally indicted on Feb. 4 and transported to the Jefferson County Jail on Feb. 5, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

Police in Orange are searching for a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery on Feb. 4.

According to a news release from OPD, on Feb. 4 at 11:00 p.m., officers with the Orange Police Department were dispatched to 1402 16th Street, Star Stop # 3, in reference to an aggravated robbery. The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a hoodie style jacket and a dark ski mask, brandishing a pistol.

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies reportedly arrested a 23-year-old Florida man and recovered more than 20 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Feb. 5.

Many of these con games peak during filing season as people prepare their tax returns or hire someone to do so. One of the most commonly used last year and this year is a phone impersonation scam.
