A man with out-of-state felony warrants reportedly committed suicide during a traffic stop in Jefferson County Nov. 17, reports Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) Deputy Marcus McLelllan.


Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst announced Nov. 18 that he has nominated Rod Carroll as the next chief of police for the city of Vidor, replacing Chief Dave Shows, whose last official day coincides with the announcement of the city’s nominee.


Tim Funchess is a fourth generation Beaumonter and eighth generation Texan who has served as the Jefferson County Treasurer since taking office in January 2011, and in September, he was elected president of the County Treasurers Association of Texas.


Police are investigating a shooting in the 1300 block of Church Street that resulted in injuries to a local resident, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

According to a news release from Officer Haley Morrow, officers responded to a residence on Church Street at 11:15 a.m. in reference to a disturbance. When they arrived, the officers learned that shots had been fired during the disturbance and one person had been struck.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition, report police.
