Fire Station No. 11

During a meeting July 12, the Beaumont City Council unanimously approved an earnest money contract for the sale of the historic Fire Station No. 11 on Sabine Pass Avenue, and City Manager Kyle Hayes addressed concerns that firefighters waiting for the completion of the new No. 11 may not have a place to work now.

The current individual members of the Beaumont Independent School District (“BISD”) Board of Managers have announced they will step down from their positions no later than the end of May 2017. The Board of Managers made this announcement Thursday, July 21, at its monthly general meeting.

Jefferson County Criminal District Attorney Bob Wortham was the recipient of the Community Builder Award from the Beaumont Masonic Lodge No. 286, presented by members of the group Tuesday, July 12, at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

According to the award inscription, the honor went to Wortham because of his “distinguished service and personal contributions” to the community of Beaumont.

The Texas General Land Office announced the names of inaugural members of the Commissioner’s Coastal Resiliency Advisory Group (CCRAG) on July 13. This 15-members regional advisory group consists of representatives from local government, business and industry leaders, each serving two-year terms.

Jefferson County Judge Jeff Branick is one of three Southeast Texas appointees.
