"Shock" Foster defends WBC title with TKO

Orange native O’Shaquie “Shock” Foster defended the WBC super featherweight championship Oct. 28 in Cancun, Mexico, with a “miracle comeback” according to Brian Webber of BoxingNews24.com.

Foster, now 21-2 (11 KOs), stopped Eduardo “Rocky” Hernandez (34-2) in the 12th round with a TKO victory.

During his post-fight speech, Foster wants to fight the winner of Joe Cordina (15-0) vs. Edward Vazquez (15-1), who fight Saturday, Nov. 4, in Monte Carlo. Cross country A host of Southeast Texas high school cross country runners have advanced to the UIL State Championship, at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, Texas, on Nov. 2-4. Class 5A, Morgan Campbell of Port Neches-Groves qualified with a second-place finish in the region 5K race in 19:14. Gaige Gordey of Lumberton will represent the Raiders’ boys’ team in Class 4A. He finished 15th.

In the 4A girls’ race, Hamshire-Fannett’s Adison Richard advanced with a second-place finish while teammate Trinity Gordon will join her. Ava Anderson of Bridge City was 14th, she too will compete for a state championship in Class 4A.
