Soper wins 81st Beaumont City Golf Championship

Beaumont native Jordan Soper put together rounds of 71-70 for a 141 total to win the 81st Beaumont City Golf Championship at Henry Homberg Golf Course last weekend. It’s was Soper’s second city tournament win in three years.

“I praise God for the opportunity to do something well and hope He is glorified by my actions on and off the golf course,” said Soper. “My hope is that I would have a contagious attitude that reflects what I believe.”

John Jeffrey was second with scores of 74-74, 148 while Julian Matthews captured third place with rounds of 75-83,158.

Robert Corbello, the defending Seniors champion, took honors again in the Senior Division by shooting 140. Brian Threadgill came in second with a 145 total and Dennis McNally nabbed third place with a 151.
