In May 2015, law enforcers took aim at crime on 11th Street in Beaumont, a hotbed of criminal activity by prostitutes and drug dealers. Through a joint effort by the Beaumont Police Department and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, police attempted to serve more than 100 warrants and ended up arresting 49 people in a single day.

A Beaumont officer’s ballistic vest was all that came between him and a bullet during a shootout with a local man Nov. 29, reports the Beaumont Police Department. Although the officer escaped with non-life threatening injuries, when the smoke cleared and police entered the home, they discovered the suspect deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Beaumont police have made an arrest in the murder of a woman in an Old Town apartment.

Police were dispatched to the 2340 Angelina St. at Minor Street on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, at 9:59 a.m. Upon arrival, BPD officers found a deceased female inside apartment 102, and because of evidence found at the scene, officers investigated the scene as a homicide. Detectives were then dispatched, and questioned witnesses and one possible suspect at the Beaumont police station.
