A second suspect sought by police in relation to the April 29 capital murder of local convenience store clerk Mettha (Metthananda) Kuruppu has been captured, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

According to news release from BPD, 19-year-old John David Sean "Shawn" Johnson was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Spring, Texas at about 11:30 p.m. on May 8.

Police have identified and are currently searching for a second suspect in the capital murder of Mettha (Metthananda) Kuruppu, the convenience store clerk who was shot and killed while working at the Pick N Shop located at 870 S. Major Dr. in Beaumont on April 29, reported the Beaumont Police Department on May 7.

Beaumont Police have arrested one of two suspects sought in the capital murder committed during the robbery of a local convenience store, reports the Beaumont Police Department.

Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department are working to determine the identity of two men responsible for killing a clerk during a robbery attempt at a west end convenience store, BPD reports.

At about 12:17 a.m. on April 29, patrol officers responded to a holdup alarm at the Pick N Shop located in the 800 block of S. Major, according to a news release from BPD. When officers arrived, they discovered the 52-year-old clerk dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

A 59-year-old Beaumont man was arrested on Jan. 4 after confessing to capital murder in relation to an incident that occurred in Corpus Christi in 2011, reports the Beaumont Police Department.
