Saturday, Dec. 2, at about 1:34 p.m., Beaumont police responded to the 4100 block of W. Cardinal Drive, northbound, in reference to a single vehicle fatality traffic crash. Investigation revealed that the driver of a Chevy Avalanche was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was ejected and pronounced deceased on the scene. The victim is identified as Derion C. Perkins, a 24-year-old Beaumont man.
