Driver hydroplanes off roadway in Rose City

According to Orange County Deputy Martin Gaskin at the scene of an accident Monday morning, Feb. 11, around 9:30 a.m., a woman veered off the road in Rose City and crashed into a guardrail. The young woman at the scene said she lost control when her car hydroplaned on the westbound Interstate 10 access road near the Asher Turnaround. She said she was unhurt.

Catastrophic Thanksgiving accident on I-10

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a catastrophic major accident on Interstate 10 (mile marker 835) near Hamshire, Texas, on Nov. 22. The accident, which happened at around 8 a.m., appears to have involved more than 150 cars in an accident scene with numerous injuries. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, Jefferson County Sheriff Department deputies, and medical personnel responded to the crash scene.

Overturned tanker truck closes Interstate 10

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to an overturned tanker truck on Interstate 10 eastbound near Brush Island Road (between Hamshire and Winnie, Texas). The tanker truck was loaded with pure ethanol, which is highly flammable, explosive and can cause respiratory difficulty. The tanker was involved in a one vehicle accident at approximately 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 2. The driver was transported to Baptist Hospital Beaumont.

Man found dead in Rose City

Shortly after 6 a.m. on April 29, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a person lying in the grass on the I-H 10 South Service road near Baird’s Bayou in Rose City, according to reports from the agency.
