Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) are investigating a fatal accident in Japser County involving a commercial vehicle and a passenger car Nov. 13.

At approximately 7:25 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple-vehicle crash on US 96 in Jasper County. The crash occurred near Kirbyville Water Supply.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) issued a warning for drivers to use caution after a crash in Jasper County lead to a vehicle roll over.

According to a press release rom DPS, Preliminary reports indicate that a 2016 BMW passenger vehicle was traveling northbound on US-96.  Due to the inclement weather and wet road conditions, the driver lost control and traveled off the roadway.  The vehicle rolled over before coming to rest in a ditch.

A 35-year-old Kirbyville man with a lengthy criminal history has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Brit Featherston on March 31.

McGee Lamar Falcon pleaded guilty on Oct. 16, 2016, to conspiracy to distribute and possess methamphetamine and was sentenced Friday to 204 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone.

On Feb. 28 around 5:15 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 62 near FM 2246 in Jasper County, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.

Jan. 24 at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a motor vehicle crash on FM 253 in Jasper County. The crash occurred near mile maker 764.

On Jan. 23 around 11:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a two vehicle crash on US 96 in Jasper County. The crash occurred about two miles south of Buna, Texas.

A Suzuki motorcycle was traveling northbound in the inside traffic lane on US 96 through an active construction zone. For an unknown reason, the motorcyclist veered from the inside lane to the outside traffic lane and struck an unoccupied 2003 GMC flatbed pickup truck. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle.

A team including Jasper SWAT officers raided two locations Jan. 18 and confiscated $1000's in cash and drugs, the Jasper Police Department reports. Four people were arrested in connection to the search warrants.
