Veterans who need legal advice or legal assistance can visit a free legal clinic on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Beaumont VA Outpatient Clinic, 3420 Veterans Circle, Beaumont, TX. The clinic is a public service of the Jefferson County Bar Association, which is part of a coalition of bar associations that provide pro bono legal services to U.S. veterans in 17 counties in Texas.


The Jefferson Count Bar Association has canceled Spindletop Spin due to rain and possible flooding. 

JCBA Director Bonnie Dean announced the cancelation of the June 4 event.


Founding Father and American revolutionary President John Adams envisioned a society wherein free people would be ruled by “a government of laws and not of men.” His remarks and philosophies were emblazoned in the 1780 Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the world’s oldest functioning written constitution that soon thereafter served as a model for the 1789 United States Constitution.


To honor local veterans and to commemorate Veterans Day, the Jefferson County Bar Association will host the following free events for Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Chambers and Liberty County veterans and spouses of deceased veterans:

Families with special needs children are often posed with great challenges. For some families, those challenges often involve preparing for the unexpected. What if a hurricane comes to Beaumont again? How will I pay for medications? Where do I go when a teacher mistreats my child? Who will take care of my child when I’m gone?

Thursday, April 24, the Jefferson County Young Lawyers Association will host a legal workshop for parents of autistic and special needs children. The workshop at The Shorkey Center, 855 S. Eighth St., from 6-8 p.m. is open to the public, and free babysitting services will be provided. The event is sponsored by a grant from the Jefferson County Bar Association Foundation. Local parents, educators and attorneys are welcome to attend free of charge.

The Jefferson County Bar Association (JCBA) will host a free legal advice clinic for area veterans Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. – noon at Lumberton Fire & EMS, 228 Country Lane Drive, Lumberton. Appointments are encouraged by calling the bar office at (409) 835-8647, but walk-ins will be welcome.


The Jefferson County Bar Association (JCBA) celebrated its fourth annual National Celebrate Pro Bono Week, the week of Oct. 22-Oct. 26, on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Event Centre at 700 Crockett St. in downtown Beaumont. The celebration honored attorneys who provide civil legal services without fees to low-income residents who cannot afford to hire lawyers.
