The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division received information from the Pompano Beach Police Department in Florida that a fugitive from their jurisdiction was staying in the Beaumont area.

Today the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is grieving the loss of telecommunications operator Joetta Heckaman.

June 14 at about 4 p.m., deputies with the JCSO Traffic Unit conducted a traffic stop on I-10 near Smith Road. The vehicle was being driven by 38-year-old Benina Villarreal of Rio Grande City, Texas. She had her 18-year-old daughter and her 9-year-old son as passengers.

Heather Pina of Beaumont was found to be in possession of 28 pills of Dilaudid.

On June 6 at approximately 7:30 p.m. while the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force was conducting surveillance in Beaumont, one of the detectives observed suspicious activity that was not related to the surveillance.

On June 7 around 3:13 a.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the Express Mart located at 11755 Highway 105 in reference to an Aggravated Robbery that had just occurred, Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.

On Sunday June 4, around 6:30 a.m., an inmate in the medical infirmary of the Jefferson County Correctional Facility reported that his bunkmate, a 70 year old white male, was unresponsive. Jail staff immediately began CPR and notified EMS.  They continued the CPR until EMS arrived and took over.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Detective Daniel Powell obtained a burglary warrant for Danny Ray Smith, 51, of Winnie for the burglary of the Longhorn convenience store in Hamshire, Texas which occurred on April 9, Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.

On May 2, Corey Wayne Stone, 35, was arrested in possession of over 50 grams of suspected crystal meth and a loaded .32 caliber handgun, Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.
