A two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County sent one man to a local hospital with serious injuries and shut down Interstate 10 for approximately two hours, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reported May 9.

According to Davis, troopers responded to a report of the accident on I-10 near mile marker 834 in Jefferson County at 5:10 p.m. The crash occurred on the westbound side of Interstate 10 on the inside shoulder near the cable barriers.

A collision involving two motorcycles resulted in injuries sending both drivers to the hospital April 24, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reported Sunday.

According to Davis, DPS received a report of a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 near Taylor's Bayou in Jefferson County at approximately 1:30 p.m., but discovered upon arrival that the crash actually involved two separate motorcycles.

The National Weather Service is calling for a Flash Flood Watch for Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana until 6 p.m. Thursday, April 21. 

According to information from the weather service, at noon on Thursday radar had indicated up to three inches of rain had already fallen along Pine Island Bayou in Northwest Jefferson and Southwest Hardin counties with the activity moving slowly east across Beaumont. An additional one to three inches of rain is expected.

Jefferson County swearing-in

Jefferson County Sheriff Mitch Woods swore in six new deputies and promoted a veteran peace officer during a ceremony at the Jefferson County Jail on March 10.

Trent Ikner, Derrick Hill, Lester Reeves, Kenneth Harrell, Lim Nguyen and Todd Guidry were sworn in Thursday morning. Five of the new deputies serve as corrections officers at the jail, and one is a Reserve Deputy with the sheriff's office. All now hold the title Deputy Sheriff.
