Police say they think they know who did it. They can’t identify the suspect legally, but they think they know. Orange County District Attorney John Kimbrough says, in time, science will prevail and the culprit will be caught, but for now there is nothing he can do without potentially endangering the viability of the case.
UPDATE: At about 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, acting on a Crime Stoppers Tip, fugitive task force members located and arrested Cody Lewis in Pennington, Texas, about 157 miles northeast of Beaumont just off U.S. 287.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has released the identity of the murder victim discovered on South China Road on the morning of April 5 and is still searching for one man in relation to the murder. JCSO reports the victim was 53-year-old Kevin Alton Moyer of Dallas.
A 59-year-old Beaumont man is dead and a reportedly mentally ill resident of a rental home where the victim was working, a 34-year-old Beaumont man, is in custody for stabbing the man to death on Monday, April 7.
Two of three men wanted in relation to a murder investigation in Jefferson County are in custody as of April 7, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies report, and the search is on for the third man, 27-year-old Cody Jamar Lewis of Beaumont, who should be considered armed and dangerous. The murder investigation was initiated as the result of a body discovered on South China Road in China on Saturday morning, April 5.
When BPD officer Joshua Jackson first came upon the Paradise Market in the 1000 block of Washington Boulevard to find 34-year-old April Danna bleeding profusely and begging for him to save her life, the 4-year midnight shift officer said the police-issue rain coat he used to try and stop Danna’s bleeding did little to keep the mortally wounded Danna alive
UPDATE: Beaumont police have apprehended 26-year-old Joe Frederick Hawkins of Beaumont who was wanted as a suspect in a triple homicide that took place over the weekend. If convicted, Hawkins faces the death penalty for capital murder. A Port Arthur woman has been charged with hindering his apprehension.
Port Arthur Police report they arrested 52-year-old Gayle Annette Waller on Nov. 3 after discovering the body of her ex-husband, 59-year-old Daniel Lee Dubois, on Nov. 2, nearly a week after the man was stabbed to death.
